Week - Porto Santo Nomad Experience Lecture - Digital Nomadism: "What it is, and the economic impact in Porto Santo"

Following the event promoted by Startup Madeira, with the support of the Municipality of Porto Santo, entitled: “Porto Santo Nomad Experience”, a Lecture was promoted in the CMPS Auditorium, in the Public Services Building, with the theme: “Digital Nomadism - What it is, and the economic impact in Porto Santo”, coordinated by the speaker Gonçalo Hall, the only Portuguese person on the list of “Remote Influencers 2021”, and who is part of the top 25 remote entrepreneurs, who came to clarify about the concepts of remote work, how to help make our region a reference for digital nomadism and how to boost local business and create interconnection between nomads from around the world, with the local community.

At the moment, the island of Madeira is having a great visibility and promoting the island, in order to attract this type of workers and has partnerships, and adaptation of local entrepreneurs to captivate this market and develop projects for this audience, and it is of course, our intention is to capture this new trend, for the less busy months on our island, and to keep in mind that we already have some international competition. This type of visitor is a great asset for the development of Porto Santo, taking into account that digital nomads move in the opposite direction to seasonal tourism, spending more time here in the low season, when we need them most.

The archipelago will not only recover faster, but will also see its image greatly improved in the younger market and will attract a new audience that did not know the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo, real havens to work at a distance, for significant periods.

The approximately 100 nomads who came to visit and experience our island, will be until May 9, with various actions related to nature, excursions and numerous activities on the island planned, so that they know in depth everything we have to offer, to captivate them. the interest in our little paradise, which has all the necessary conditions to foster this new world trend.
