Anthus berthelotii madeirensis
Berthelot's pipit, endemic species from Macaronesia, exclusive to the Madeira Archipelagos, where the endemic subspecies A.b.madeirensis occurs, and from the Canary Islands, where together with the Selvagens Islands, A.b.bertheloti occurs. It looks for open areas with little vegetation and can be identified almost exclusively by its silhouette and behavior on the ground, when, as the name implies, it goes "running paths". In flight it can be identified by the white lines that become quite evident. It is protected by the Berne Convention – Annex II.
