27/06/2021 - New urban park in Porto Santo (Facebook Regional Government of Madeira)
Albuquerque pleased with new urban park in Porto Santo.
The Porto Santo campsite will be transformed into the city's future public park. The project, under the responsibility of the Secretariat for the Environment, was presented, on Friday, June 25, at the site, to the president of the Regional Government.
The work is budgeted at two million euros and will be included in the Regional Budget for 2022.
Miguel Albuquerque was pleased with a project that, as Susana Prada, Secretary of the Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, pointed out, will respect Porto Santo's cultural and natural heritage and which will comply with all energy regulations.
The contract includes the planting of indigenous plants, dune replacement works, construction of sports fields (beach football and beach volleyball) and a children's playground, the implementation of natural sand pavement, the recovery of the existing daughter-in-law and also the planting vines.
The current buildings will be demolished, giving way to two new structures, similar to boat houses, which will incorporate an ice cream parlor and a cafeteria, both with a terrace.
The new public space will also be served with a picnic area and pedestrian paths. Parking will be expanded from 20 to 61 spaces.
The new urban park will also be served by a Digital Technologies Nucleus, aimed at digital nomads. This service will be introduced in a few months.
