In addition to being a source of pride for all people in Porto Santo, a Porto Santo beach is also very special. It's golden sands hold secrets unknown to many. Unlike what happens on the remaining Portuguese beaches, where the areas are made up of quartz particles, Porto Santo sand is of biological origin, that is, it is allowed by remains of algae, shells and other fossilized marine animals.
